Johnathan is a Fairfield native. He graduated from Fairfield High School before going on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from UC Davis, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Prior to beginning his career in law enforcement, Johnathan spent over 10 years working for the University of Phoenix in various leadership roles, ending as the Director of Enrollment for the Northern California campus and as an Adjunct Faculty Member for the College of General Studies and Business.
In 2013, Johnathan made the decision to leave higher education and pursue a career in law enforcement. He was hired by the Fairfield Police Department as a police officer trainee in 2014. After attending the Police Academy, Johnathan was sworn in as one of our police officers in August of 2014. As an officer, he held assignments in Patrol, Investigations Unit, as a School Resource Officer, Field Training Officer, Crisis Negotiations Team, and Mobile Field Force. In 2021, Johnathan’s hard work was recognized, and he was promoted to Police Sergeant. As a sergeant, Johnathan worked on Patrol and supervised our Professional Standards Unit.
In his spare time, Johnathan enjoys 49ers games, coaching youth sports, traveling with his wife, Jessica, and attending his two sons, Jordan and Jackson’s, sporting events.
Lieutenant Reed was promoted on June 13 and is assigned to Patrol.
